Take a step toward a more adventurous winter with one of our Guided Winter Adventures. Whether you are looking for a way to get a good outdoor workout or learn new skills to help you explore the backcountry, we have a program for you. Drawing on his 20 years of leading adventures in the White Mountains, our director of guided programs, Steve Nichipor, has designed programs suitable for everyone, from beginner to expert. Let him and his expert staff take you on a winter adventure, right here at Bretton Woods.
Ski Tour
Get the most out of your day at Bretton Woods. We'll show you the best trails and glades for you ability and interests. You'll get more skiing with preferred lift line access. This three-hour tour is available for Alpine and Nordic skiers looking to get the most out of their day.

Nordic Downhill Tour
Take full advantage of one of New Hampshire's most unique trails, Mountain Road. Learn skills that will help you feel more comfortable on the downhill and in the backcountry while on your Nordic skis. These tours last approximately three hours. Intermediate Nordic skiing ability is required.

Snowshoe Expedition
Explore a nearby mountain and experience the wonders of the winter forest. This is a great way to get some exercise, get off the beaten path, and discover the wonders of winter. We'll pick a nearby hike based on conditions and group ability. You'll learn about winter backcountry safety and equipment and enjoy stunning mountain scenery. These tours last approximately three hours. Participants should be in good physical condition and health.

Custom Backcountry Adventure
Do you want more than our normal adventures provide? Our director of guided programs, Steve Nichipor, has been guiding climbers and backcountry skiers for over 15 years. He can take you on a winter ascent of Mount Washington, backcountry skiing in Tuckerman Ravine or ice climbing on Frankenstein Cliff. The possibilities are endless. Custom adventure ideas might include:
- Beginner Ice Climbing
Learn how to climb frozen waterfalls in this exciting class. You'll learn how to use ice axes, crampons, and a climbing rope to ascend frozen waterfalls. It's a lot of fun and you'll want to come back for more once you're "hooked." This adventure is suitable for anyone in average physical condition and good health. Technical equipment is provided. Boots and crampons are available for rent. - Guided Intermediate to Advanced Ice Climbing
The White Mountains are home to some of the best ice climbing in the country. Crawford Notch hosts a wide variety of climbs, from short, steep climbs at Frankenstein Cliff to long alpine routes on Mt. Willard and Mt Webster. We'll choose routes that will fun and challenging based on your experience and goals. - Introduction to Backcountry Skiing
Learn the basics to get out and enjoy the backcountry of the White Mountains and beyond. You'll learn about efficient uphill travel with climbing skins, basics of avalanche safety, and earn some great turns. There are many possibilities of locations based on your ability and current conditions, including Tuckerman Ravine, Mount Hale, and Little Deception Mountain. Give us a call to discuss your goals. Avalanche safety gear is provided. Alpine Touring or Telemark skis are available for rent.
